The Day of Hope and Leadership
The Day of Hope and Leadership is a unique personal, professional and community development day. It was created to help equip, develop and motivate leaders to meet the challenges that many of us face today. Through this interactive day, attendees have the opportunity to be inspired by world class speakers and receive practical tools and ideas that can be easily adapted to each attendee’s environment. There is a strong philanthropic focus also; proceeds raised from the Day of Hope and Leadership are directed towards community development programs. The annual event in Durham Region supports the many free programs run in the Hope Centre of Learning and Oshawa Community Health Centre. Other Day of Hope and Leadership host communities will use the proceeds raised towards a charity in their community. We want to develop strong leaders as well as develop communities and help them build capacity in areas of need.

The theme for 2013 Day of Hope and Leadership in Ajax is:
Leadership: Balancing The Shift.
Our lives have changed dramatically over the past 20 years. With new technologies comes new ways of thinking, working and leading. We will be exploring some of the changes in leadership and discussing how we balance the shift.
This year, not only will we have keynote presentations, we will also have interactive workshops where attendees can truly engage in thought provoking discussions with other attendees and presenters.
Our workshops will cover the following topics:
1. The new face of leadership – emerging leaders and anyone who is on track to move into a leadership position.
2. Changes in leadership – how we lead in this new era, women in leadership (what challenges do they face that are unique) and how do we balance our lives when we are connected 24 hours a day?
3. Succession leadership – how do we prepare our organizations for changes in leadership and how do we prepare ourselves to move onto our new adventures.
We look forward to some exciting discussion around all 3 workshop topics!
